My Story

Welcome to my world of found objects.  I create assemblage sculpture  from materials collected from terrestrial and water landscapes, including rivers, lakes, and oceans.  In 2002, while living in Alaska, I became involved with the movement to clean up trash in our oceans and on our beaches.   Many artists worldwide began making ART out of ocean trash to help spread the word about the global problem of pollution in our seas.   Although I seldom used ‘trash’ in my artwork before, I started my serious ‘collection’ and have never looked back.  I relocated to Idaho in 2014,  and began to collect materials from Idaho's wild landscape, rivers, lakes, roadways, and parking lots…with an occasional trip to the Oregon coast.

My artwork is a blend of natural and unnatural materials, unwanted and desirable objects side by side, telling important stories about our society’s relationship with material possessions. My goal is to utilize art as a universal messenger to encourage people to reduce consumption, reuse, and recycle materials.   People from cultures around the world are transforming discarded materials into useful products and creative artwork to minimize the impact on the environment and improve the health of our planet.  Less landfills, more trees and cleaner water!
